Quote

"The key to this transformation is not to standardize education, but to personalize it, to build achievement on discovering the individual talents of each child, to put students in an environment where they want to learn and where they can naturally discover their true passions."

A Fulfilling Education

The curriculum at Wollingsford Academy is structured to provide students with challenging opportunities that prepare them for college, as well as day-to-day life after school. With a half-day live online virtual program, students are able to receive a full academic and enriching course load. Students are able to maintain their focus on the real world experience and outcomes.

Students not only learn their core academics with Math, Science, English, and History, but they also have access to a variety of courses from which to choose to fulfill credit and diploma requirements.

Math & English: Top Priorities

At Wollingsford Academy, Mathematics and English/Language Arts serve as the cornerstones of every student's daily academic experience — and that is entirely by design.  These two subjects are the foundation upon which every other discipline is built, and we believe that consistent, daily live instruction in both is what separates a strong education from an adequate one.

In our live online Mathematics classes, students go far beyond memorizing formulas; through guided instruction, discovery, and real discussion with their teacher and classmates, students develop the analytical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to approach complex, unfamiliar challenges with confidence.

Our English/Language Arts program is equally rigorous — students work through a concept-based curriculum that weaves together literature, writing, history, and critical analysis, building not just reading and writing proficiency, but the kind of deep, disciplined thinking that serves them in every subject and in life.

Both courses are delivered live each day because these skills require consistent practice, real-time feedback, and the kind of teacher-student dialogue that no pre-recorded lesson can replicate. When a student can think critically, communicate clearly, and solve problems independently, every other door in their education — and their future — opens wider.

Science

Wollingford's science program is based on an inquiry model; students experiment, observe, make predictions, and test their hypotheses. They design experiments, collect accurate data, and analyze results, comparing the experimental findings to the theory learned in class. Our goal is to give the students both the opportunity and the desire to understand the natural and physical world around them.

Social Studies & History

Our history courses are delivered asynchronously, giving students the flexibility to engage with rigorous, teacher-designed content on a schedule that works for their family. Offerings span United States History to World History. From Economics to US Government.  Each course is reading-intensive and project-focused, built around primary and secondary sources, individual projects, and analytical thinking that connects history to the contemporary world.

Enrichment Courses

Wollingsford Academy's enrichment courses are fully asynchronous, giving students the flexibility to explore new interests at their own pace. Students may add up to three courses per semester from a catalog spanning business, accounting, entrepreneurship, creative writing, digital arts, coding and programming, psychology, sociology, and more. From learning programming languages to exploring web design and the design thinking process, every course is built around real-world application — so students don't just learn concepts, they develop skills they can actually use.

Offline and In-Person

At Wollingsford, we recognize the significance and value of forming connections and building relationships with peers and faculty outside of the virtual environment. Our close-knit community values the contributions of each individual and understands the importance of having a safe and caring place to learn.

Through a variety of purposely designed in-person workshops and events, students connect with and learn from their peers. Students participate in activities that foster growth in their abilities to collaborate with their peers, engaging in field trips, service projects, and social clubs.
